Hi loves! The tutorial that I've been promising you is finally here! I'm replacing this week's "Weekend Fun" with a different kind of weekend fun. Oo la la. Ok, grab some supplies and get beading!
You'll need:
- scissors
- glue (just a dab, so most craft glues will do)
- beads (I like having two different sizes, but you can use whatever you'd like!)
- tweezers (not totally necessary, but helpful)
- ruler
- about 22' of silk thread (yes, feet not inches!)
Here's what to do:
- Measure out the thread to 22' (you can make it shorter if you want; this length makes for a long necklace that can be doubled around the neck)
- Fold thread in half and knot about 2" down from the top, leaving a loop
- Time to string beads and make knots! Bead and knot in any pattern you choose. I did: Bead knot knot bead knot knot bead etc.
- For the larger beads, string both threads through. For smaller beads, string one thread through and leave one to wrap around the bead and knot below it
- Holding tweezers at the base of the beads while knotting helps to make a close, tight knot
- It's also helpful to pull both threads in opposite directions after knotting to tighten
- Bead and knot like crazy (I suggest a nice movie in the background)
- When you reach a few inches away from the end of the thread, knot it together with the loop of thread in the beginning of the strand
- Trim the excess thread and add a bit of glue to reinforce the knot
- Wear your necklace proudly! Enjoy!
Hope you have a great weekend! I'd love to see pictures of your knot necklaces!
xoxo
