Shop Ash & Anchor Prints

Hello hello. How was your weekend? Mine was a lovely mix of working and relaxing, both of which were needed to get me here today! I'm so excited to announce that I will now be selling prints of my paintings and collages in the shop! It has been a long time coming and I couldn't be more happy about it! The images have been professionally printed on gorgeous Hahnemuhle Fine Art Pearl paper and look almost exactly like the original paintings and collages.

Oh I do hope you like them. Head on over to the "Art Prints" section of the shop for more details! And if you feel so inclined, spread the word! Tell your friends! I'll heart you forever :)

Poster Child: Bon Iver

Bon Iver "The Wolves (Act I & II)"

I love Bon Iver so much. His music sounds like what it is to be human; the perfect blend of beauty and pain. The posters that designers have made for his shows are pretty right on as well, dontcha think?

A Country Escape

"The Universe is very, very big.
It also loves a paradox. For example, it has some extremely strict rules.

Rule number one: Nothing lasts forever.
Not you or your family or your house or your planet or the sun. It is an absolute rule. Therefore when someone says that their love will never die, it means that their love is not real, for everything that is real dies.

Rule number two: Everything lasts forever."

Color Theory | Robert C. Jackson

Well hello there! How was your weekend? I feel like it flew by so fast! Let's start this Monday morning off with some COLOR! How wonderful is this painting, "Daredevil," by Robert C. Jackson?! The colors feel bright and nostalgic, the realism is amazing, and the subject matter is so witty. And I always love a little added bizarre element (thank you bone + glass of water combo!)

Cheers to the week ahead, let's rock it!

Look and Listen

In the middle of a crazy busy week, it's good to sit back, relax for a few, look at the clouds, and listen to some ambient, ethereal goodness.

Color Theory | Spring Trees

There's this tree on the corner a block up from my house that I've never paid much attention to. Bare and sad in the winter and simple and green in the summer. But, oh, in the spring! It's like a little secret that's only out for a few weeks. I'm so glad I snapped a few photos, it's already leafy green.

Here's to an awesome week ahead. Happy Monday to you! xo

Art Life: Kate Pugsley's Halo

So far, each piece I've featured in Art Life has been of an image that I keep going back to, that I cant get enough of, and that I want to consistently stare at. This edition is no different-- my eyes wont let go of Kate Pugsley's Halo. There's something about those coral shapes that keep me hanging, wondering. And the evidence of Pugsley's painterly hand throughout the piece is all the more reason to keep looking-- it's gorgeous!

Think: Mustards, Golds and Corals and Soft Organic Shapes

Color Theory | Blaine Fontana

Blaine Fontana is such a master at mixing graphic and painterly styles together to create bold, interesting images. I'm really enjoying the interaction between oranges and blues in A Troubling Myth, pictured above.

Ash & Anchor Melodies: I Hear You Drowning But I'm Tied

This mix is super moody and atmospheric, and thanks to Poe in track #4, includes some interesting (creepy?) noises. The mix title "I Hear You Drowning But I'm Tied" is from the song of the same name by a band called Letting Up Despite Great Faults.
